My Favorite Products for My Natural Hair!

October 29, 2018

I decided to go natural…again…for the third time. I’ve gone natural in the past as a way to recuperate my hair after mishaps with heat, dye, and relaxers. After deciding to go natural again, and being fed up with transitioning, I did my first big chop in February of 2017. But, I’ve never really been one to walk around with my natural hair on display. It’s just always felt like so much work that I wasn’t ready to get jiggy with. It is so much easier for me to stick with wigs and weaves. No muss, no fuss, and I’m out the door! But lo and behold, here I am almost a year after my BC, rocking my fro and actually loving it!

So since I’m committing to this natural life (for now), I wanted to share the products that I’m currently using. I’ll be honest, I’m not really into products too heavy. But, I have found some gems that I think are going to be staples in my natural hair arsenal.

1. OGX Coconut Curls Shampoo and Conditioner

First up is one of my favorites. I love the OGX line of shampoos and conditioners. I even used their collections when I was relaxed. The Coconut Curls collection really helps my curls to pop, and it makes my hair feel so soft! On top of that, it smells amazing. The conditioner also has a really good slip, which makes detangling a breeze.

2. Creme of Nature Leave-in Conditioners

Even though the Coconut Curls conditioner helps my curls pop, it doesn’t combat the frizz that well. So I’ve decided that twist outs are the best thing to help me do that. I get the best twist outs when I use Creme of Nature’s Strength & Shine Leave-In Conditioner spray, and their Ultra Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner. I use the spray to help keep my hair saturated while twisting it. The ultra moisturizing leave-in is just that! It keeps my hair amazingly soft, and my twists outs are always super defined.

3. Africa’s Best Herbal Oil and Hair Polish

These two products help my curls maintain a soft glow. I use these to make sure my curls are never dull. I actually mix a little oil with my leave-in conditioner in a small container when I’m doing my twist outs. I usually stretch my twist outs for at least seven days. I spray a couple of pumps of the hair polish on my hair whenever I feel like my shine needs to be revamped throughout the week. It’s very lightweight and doesn’t have a greasy feeling.

I’m in love with all of these products! They make doing my hair so easy, which makes me want keep rocking my fro as long as I can! I know I’m going to stick with these, but I’m pretty sure I’ll eventually give some new things a whirl. What other products should I try?!
